Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am delighted to invite you to the 24th Conference of the European Anthropological Association (EAA). This is a particularly significant event, as it commemorates the Association’s 50th anniversary.
This jubilee meeting, hosted in Budapest by our Hungarian colleagues in August 2026, offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the EAA’s rich legacy and to engage with the current and future state of anthropology in Europe and beyond. The scientific programme will cover a wide range of topics, from human biology and evolution to health, development, bio-cultural diversity and social change. These topics will stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration between researchers of all generations. Special sessions will also celebrate the Association’s history and the impact of anthropological scholarship over the past five decades.
We warmly invite anthropologists at all career stages to contribute, exchange ideas and share their research experiences. Whether you are a long-standing member or are attending the conference for the first time, the EAA community looks forward to your participation.
To support early-career engagement, the EAA will cover the registration fee for undergraduate and postgraduate students who are members of our Association. We hope this will enable many young scholars to join us, present their work, and connect with colleagues across Europe.
At this time of rapid global change, the insights provided by anthropology into human diversity, adaptation and well-being are more important than ever. Let us come together to celebrate our shared commitment to advancing anthropological knowledge and shaping the future of our discipline.
I look forward to welcoming you to our historic conference in Budapest next year and celebrating together our association’s achievements over the last 50 years.

With warm regards,
Maria Kaczmarek
President of the European Anthropological Association
